Donnacha O’Dea : HND.President

Donnacha “The Don” O’Dea  is a “Professional Poker Player”. He made the final table of the WSOP Main Event in 1983 where he finished 6th in the event, eventually won by Tom McEvoy and again in 1991. In 1998 he won a WSOP bracelet in Pot Limit Omaha.

Donnacha first appeared in the Late Night Poker television series in series 4, finishing 5th in a heat won by Robin Keston. He returned to the show in series 6, winning his heat and going on to finish 4th in the Grand Final.

In 2004 he won the Poker Millions tournament, overcoming Dave “The Devilfish” Ulliott in the eventual heads-up confrontation. The following year he made the final table again and finished in 5th place.

O’Dea was the first member of the European Poker Players Hall of Fame.

As of 2008, his total live tournament winnings exceed $1,000,000. His 22 cashes as the WSOP account for $471,687 of those winnings.

Fintan Gavin : Chairman

Fintan Gavin founder of pokerevents.ie in 2004.  Over the last 4-5 years he has run hugely successful poker tours all over Ireland, for Boyesports, Party Poker and Victor Chandler.  He organized the Irish Poker Championship (I.P.C) which is the first of the major ranking Poker Tournaments in Europe and is televised by R.T.E.

He is not a bad poker player either, as he won $1,140,000 in Barcelona last September 2008, in the European Poker Tour.

Christy Smith : C.E.O and Financial Director

Christy Smith has been on the poker scene for over 25 years.  Both as an amateur player and organizer of Poker Tournaments.  In fact a No Limit Poker Tournament he started in 1984 has been running continuously ever since.  He won the Irish Open in 1993 and also has 4 final table cashes.  His sister Jenny Hagerty also won the Irish Open in 2001.

Jim Smith : Operations Manager

Jim Smith formed The Poker Room Ireland in 2006 where he ran Texas Hold’em events on the Northside of Dublin.  He has great knowledge of the poker scene in Ireland.  He has run many charity events through poker and has raised a lot of money for various charities over the years.  We are delighted to have him involved with Poker in the Pub.


Patrick Kelly : Public Relations

Patrick Kelly has been running weekly Poker Tournaments in the Midlands over the last 5 years. He runs The Midlands Open Poker Championships every year. This tournament is growing in popularity each year and attracts a lot of players from around country, this year the main event will be held at The Kilford Arms Hotel in Kilkenny and will have an estimated prize pool of €30,000 with a cap 150 players, and with the backing and support of the biggest and strongest Poker League organizers in the country (Poker in the Pub) he is confident to have a FULL HOUSE
